Connectivity in practice

Bowers Group (Hall 19, Stand 410) will showcase a variety of metrology solutions and offer live demonstrations to illustrate how effective data transfer between measurement equipment and applications can boost manufacturing productivity. With a strong focus on connective metrology, Bowers Group representatives will be willing and ready to show visitors exactly how Bluetooth-enabled equipment and connectivity can improve efficiencies and reduce errors. Attendees will also have the opportunity to find out more about the range of precision measurement equipment available from Bowers, including a selection of products from Baty, Trimos, Sylvac, Gagemaker and Wyler: from bore gauges, micrometres and indicators, to sophisticated vision systems, profile projectors and software.

Route to productivity

On Stand 555 in Hall 20, Industrial Tooling Corporation (ITC) will introduce new technology from its line-up, complemented by next-generation offerings from Widia, Big Kaiser, Kemmler and Bass. For instance, from its indexable milling range, ITC will showcase the new Widia M1600 face mill series for roughing and semi-finishing operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron and nodular iron materials. With a smart insert design, ITC says that the M1600 performs exceptionally well under various machining conditions, including low-power machines, unstable set ups, long overhangs and weak fixture conditions. The 16-edged, precision-ground insert with positive geometry enables low cutting forces and low power consumption, resulting in higher tool life and more economic cost per edge.

Latest tooling for sliding-head lathes

Floyd Automatic Tooling (Hall 20, Stand 472) will have sliding-head machines on its stand from the world’s leading manufacturers, all featuring the latest tooling innovations that now include the Swiss cutting tool brand Denitool and the German JBO brand. Both JBO and Denitool will be making a MACH exhibition premiere, and the addition of the former to the Floyd stable will give the tooling specialist a wide range of thread milling cutters, shell-type thread milling tools, threading dies, combination tools, precision thread gauges and more.

Also on show will be the new Hydro-Swiss Turn range (pictured) of compact hydraulic clamping tool holders for cylindrical tools. Capable of maintaining precision and run-out levels of less than 1 µm, ‘ultra-precise’ is now possible for sliding-head CNC turning centres. Hydro-Swiss Turn holders are compatible with all leading sliding-head machine brands, and are available as a standard or as an ultra-precise (UP) variant that can achieve run-out of 0.003 and 0.001 TIR respectively.

Saws UK selling Meber machines

Saws UK has struck up a partnership with Italian machine manufacturer Meber, to distribute its industrial cutting products in the UK. The 60-year-old family-run company manufactures a range of bandsaw machines for cutting wood, steel, aluminium, cast iron and plastic. To that extent, Meber has created customised machinery in order to cut materials requested by customers. According to the company, investing in a Meber product guarantees a sawing machine that will last a very long time, thanks to its robust design, reliability and expert build quality.

“We are extremely pleased to be the only company supplying Meber products to the UK market,” says a Saws UK spokesperson. “As a result, we’re looking forward to a productive business relationship. In fact, the first delivery of Meber machines has already arrived on the shop floor of our Crowborough showroom in East Sussex.”

In terms of products, Meber offers a range of manual and semi-automatic machines, including double-mitre, fully-automatic CNC machines. The type of companies that can benefit vary from one-man workshops and small steel fabrication companies, to steel stockholders and large industrial environments, such as the automotive sector and other heavy industries, as well as production engineering firms.

Meber can also manufacture customised in-feed and out-feed material handling systems equipped with different material end stops to suit individual company requirements.

“We’re not only delighted with the quality of the products, but happy to say that we can offer a very short lead time to deliver the majority of items in the Meber range,” says Saws UK.
