MTC in apprentice tie-up with BPP

The training arm of the Manufacturing Technology Centre – MTC Training – has joined forces with global training provider BPP to boost its range of apprenticeships. Moving forward, the partnership will aim to tackle skills shortages in manufacturing and engineering, and provide apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships in a range of disciplines needed by advanced manufacturing organisations. The portfolio of apprenticeships on offer – from Level 3 to Level 7 Masters degrees – will include digital and technology solutions, data science and data analysis, as well as an MSc degree in applied data analytics.

Dormer Pramet appoints new president

Eduardo Martin will soon become the new president of cutting tool specialist Dormer Pramet. He will take on the role from 1 February 2022, replacing Stefan Steenstrup, who became president of Seco Tools in October. For the past six years, Martin has been senior vice president – head of global sales at Sandvik Coromant, and has had a long and extensive career within Sandvik. Filippo Mauri will continue to lead the Dormer Pramet team during the interim period over the next few months. In February, he will return to his position as vice president of mergers and acquisitions.

GKN tech centre

GKN Aerospace held an aviation industry forum to celebrate the opening of its new Global Technology Centre (GTC) in Bristol, UK. Entitled ‘Shaping a sustainable future of flight’ – the event brought together the wider UK aerospace ecosystem and helped promote collaboration in the industry. The 10,000 sq m centre will focus on sustainable aviation research and development, including hydrogen propulsion technologies, advanced composite structures for electric aircraft, additive manufacturing and industry 4.0 processes to enable the high-rate production of aircraft structures.

Customers on active maintenance may send one person per verification licence (limited to five in total), to any standard virtual or physical training class each year.
