Diamorph invests in fabrication site

Diamorph group, Permali’s new owner, is making an investment of over £6m to support the manufacturing of composite materials and bearings at its Gloucester facility. Gloucester is the home of Permali and the future home of Tenmat composites and Railko, some of the best-known material brands serving industries such as Formula One, defence, marine, aerospace and rail. With the investment comes a significant recruitment drive. Over 70 roles will be available, including manufacturing operatives, quality inspectors, CNC managers, and warehouse and logistics supervisors.

Subcon 2022 opens its doors

This week, 7-9 June, will see the 45th edition of Subcon welcome visitors to the Birmingham NEC. Over 200 world-class suppliers will present their services and products to the manufacturing and engineering community. Visitors also gain free-of-charge access to The Engineer Expo and the Manufacturing Management Show (MMS), while an extensive seminar programme is also available.

Open house at CNC Robotics

CNC Robotics will kick start the summer by opening the doors of its new facilities to the manufacturing and engineering community on 15 June. Located in Mersey Reach, Liverpool, the business moved into an award-winning industrial development during the summer of last year. The open house will include a robotic machining demonstration from the company’s ‘artist in residence’, Liz Wilson. The event will also feature a range of guest exhibitors and demonstrations from companies within the CNC Robotics community, such as Cadline, Hiteco, Kuka, Make UK, Schunk and 3DGBIRE.

Hurco expands UK engineering team

The technical team supporting users of Hurco machining centres and lathes throughout the UK and Ireland has been expanded by the arrival of four additional service engineers. Aaron Hewett, Liam Storer, Ben Pringle and Vinicius Gomes are currently undergoing training at Hurco’s High Wycombe facility before shadowing technical support engineers in the field. All of the new recruits have strong experience with other machine tool brands, so will be quickly up to speed with the Hurco range. There is now a total of 20 Hurco service engineers serving the British and Irish markets.

Low-carbon hydrogen project for MTC

Engineers from the Manufacturing Technology Centre in Coventry are playing a key role in a project to develop innovative low-carbon hydrogen storage and supply systems, helping the UK’s drive to net zero. The SHyLO project has won £4.3m in funding from BEIS under the Government’s Net Zero Innovation Portfolio Low-Carbon Hydrogen Supply 2 Competition. The MTC is partnering SHyLO project leader H2GO Power, a clean-tech SME founded in 2014 as a spin-out from Cambridge University. Other project partners are ARC Consulting, Autodesk, HSSMI and EMEC
