Success for Metal Show & TIB 2022

Last month’s Metal Show & TIB 2022, the leading trade fair in Romania for metalworking, industrial technology and production equipment, saw visitor numbers exceed the expectations of exhibitors and the organiser. The 130 exhibitors (from 13 countries) welcomed 3512 visitors over the four days of the show, which covered a floor space of 10,275 sq m. Among the exhibits were machine tools for machining, sheet metal processing equipment, cutting equipment, precision tools, industrial software, instruments and measuring machines, equipment and accessories for welding, and robotics.

Sustainability appointment

Sandvik Coromant has appointed Camilla Nevstad Bruzelius as its head of sustainable business. She has 20 years of experience at Sweden’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, most recently as deputy head of the Global Agenda Department. Nevstad Bruzelius will champion the company’s sustainability goals and communicate their progress with internal and external stakeholders, while also focusing on areas such as Sandvik Coromant’s cemented-carbide circularity program, which allows customers to sell their used cutting tools back to Sandvik Coromant for recycling.

Success for GrindingHub

GrindingHub 2022 concluded on 20 May, with the four-day event proving a major success. More than 370 exhibitors showcased their latest grinding technology innovations, products and solutions across almost 18,000 sq m of exhibition space. A total of 9500 visitors crowded into the three fully booked halls, with around 40% coming from abroad. An impressive sight was the total of more than 240 machines working live at the exhibition, many of them on large and prestigious stands. The next GrindingHub is scheduled for 14-17 May 2024 in Stuttgart.

Makerbot and Ultimaker to merge

MakerBot and Ultimaker, two specialists in desktop 3D printing, have come to a business combination agreement that will accelerate the adoption of additive manufacturing by providing a comprehensive desktop 3D printing ecosystem of hardware, software and materials. The new entity will be backed by existing investors, NPM Capital and Stratasys, and will benefit from a planned cash investment of $62.4m to fuel innovation and expansion into new markets. Nadav Goshen, current MakerBot CEO, and Jürgen von Hollen, current Ultimaker CEO, will act as co-CEOs of the new company moving forward.
