Growing AM competence

Hexagon is partnering with Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE), a national research and development centre, to provide software that will help meet a Swedish initiative to advance the use of additive manufacturing (AM) technologies and accelerate the adoption of innovative and sustainable processes in European industry. The new application centre for AM will be overseen by a consortium of industry leaders and provide manufacturers with access to a host of AM technologies, including software solutions from Hexagon for AM and quality control.

SolidCAM UK seminar

CADCAM reseller SolidCAM UK has taken delivery of a new CV5-500 five-axis machining centre from machine tool partner Yamazaki Mazak UK at its technology centre in Barnsley, which visitors to its forthcoming live cutting seminar will be able to see in action. The company says that the high-accuracy model will allow potential customers to witness first-hand how the machine, combined with the right software, can increase the productivity and efficiency of any workshop. The company will showcase the machine for the first time during a SolidCAM UK live cutting seminar on 1 December.

Rapid manufacturing service set for Europe

Quickparts, a global specialist in on-demand custom prototype and production parts through 3D printing and traditional manufacturing, is launching a new service offering same-day shipping. The service is possible thanks to the adoption of new manufacturing technologies like Nexa3D’s LSPc (lubricant sub-layer photo-curing) 3D printing technology, and innovative CNC and injection moulding technology. Launching first in the US with Europe following in early 2023, the service is said to offer greater supply chain reliability, thanks to localised manufacturing on both continents.

Preliminary exhibitor list for EMO released

With the deadline just a few days away (1 December), more than 1000 exhibitors have already registered for the EMO Hannover 2023 exhibition (18-23 September), including a plethora of big-name companies from 36 countries. Some 64% of registered companies come from abroad. After Germany, other major exhibiting nations include Italy, Taiwan and Switzerland. The last show in 2019 attracted more than 2200 exhibitors and nearly 120,000 trade visitors from around 150 countries. Seco Tools appoints new vice president

Mia Bökmark is the new vice president of product management and R&D at Seco Tools. She reports to Stefan Steenstrup, the company’s president, and is now a member of the Seco Management Group. Together with the organisation, Bökmark will create a stronger connection to customer needs and accelerate the development and deployment of new products, services and solutions. She holds an MSc in Mechanical Engineering and, prior to her most recent job as executive management advisor in her own company, she held managing positions within SKF for almost 30 years.
