Record order secured by Gewefa

Gewefa UK has won its largest ever order for grinding arbors – along with a large quantity of collet chucks – for use with newly commissioned Magerle MFP 100 grinding and milling centres.

The order, comprising 600 individual tool holders in total, including 400 ‘Grindtec’ grinding arbors with HSK80 tapers, is to assist with the finish-machining of critical aero-engine components.
The tool-holder specification required a robust construction to guarantee wide machining contours with high material removal rates. Gewefa Grindtec arbors are part of a comprehensive range of arbors, tool holders and accessories.

Channelling innovation

The 3D printing arm of Express Group Ltd, GoPrint3D, has joined HP’s UK channel partner programme to offer HP Jet Fusion 3D technology to its customer base across the UK and Ireland.

With immediate effect, GoPrint3D will act as a reseller of HP Jet Fusion 500/300 series printers to its customers. The addition of GoPrint3D to the channel partner programme builds on its 20-year relationship with HP for traditional printers. In addition, with HP’s reusable 3D printing materials, GoPrint3D’s customers will be able to benefit from finished parts that have a lower environmental impact.

Ifor Williams Trailer is looking for extra staff across its four sites in Cynwyd, Corwen, Sandycroft and Deeside. Roles include production managers, production operatives, welders, design engineers and administration staff. Apprenticeships are also available at the company’s Weld Academy.
Ifor Williams Trailer is ramping up production of its HBX and HBE horseboxes. The design of the aluminium-built HBX trailer took its inspiration from the automotive industry, with a nod to the sophisticated ruggedness of the Range Rover and its ‘floating roof’. Demand is also high for other ranges, including livestock trailers, car transporters, ‘business in a box’ trailers, box vans, and flat bed and general duty trailers.

Lapping gel for ball valves

Working closely with ball valve manufacturers, Engis UK has developed a lapping gel specifically for use in severe service ball valve lapping applications such as those found in oil and gas production and petrochemical refining.

Severe service ball valves are often installed in remote and difficult to access locations, and must withstand the harshest conditions, including high pressures, high temperatures and caustic materials, while providing tight tolerances and zero-leak characteristics.
Among the main benefits of Engis LD diamond gel is said to be a reduction in overall lapping times by up to 30-40%. In addition, less pressure is required using the LD gel, reducing scratching and operator fatigue in manual operations. This attribute results in less component scrappage, while test stand failures are significantly reduced – to near zero in some instances, reports the company.
The lapping gels contain specially controlled diamond particles that are micronised in Engis laboratories. In contrast, some conventional lapping compounds, particularly those not manufactured to the most exacting standards, incorporate rogue abrasive particles and can suffer from particle agglomeration or excessive ‘dry out’ during processing, resulting in surface scratches which compromise the zero-leak goal.
Engis LD gel is available in 18 or 100 g syringes in particle sizes ranging from 1 to 60 µm.
